Healing Through Land, Culture & Connection
We believe wellness is wholistic—nurturing the physical, mental, emotional, and spiritual parts of who we are. Our retreats create space to slow down, spend time on the land, strengthen relationships, and reconnect with ourselves, one another, culture, and community.
Youth Wellness Retreats
These retreats provide a caring and supportive space for Indigenous youth who have been impacted by grief and loss related to drug poisoning. Through time on the land, cultural teachings and practices, movement, nourishing food, reflection, laughter, and connection with others, youth are invited to experience healing in ways that honour the whole person. We recognize that grief is carried differently by everyone, and we create space for each young person to walk their own healing journey surrounded by community, culture, and care.
Thank you to Canadian Mental Health Association Shu-Rev and the Community Action Initiative for making these retreats possible.
Elder Retreats
These retreats creates space for Elders to gather, rest, connect, and share knowledge in a beautiful land-based setting. The retreat centres relationships, good food, laughter, cultural connection, and opportunities to nurture physical, mental, emotional, and spiritual wellness.
It is also a time to honour the important role Elders hold within our communities and to ensure that those who generously share their wisdom and knowledge are themselves cared for and supported.
Staff Wellness Retreat
We believe that caring for community also means caring for the people doing the work. Each year, the Rise Up team gathers for a Staff Wellness Retreat to rest, reconnect, reflect, and strengthen relationships with one another and the land. By practising the same values of wholistic wellness that guide our programs, we nurture a healthy team that can continue walking alongside youth, Elders, families, and community in a good way.
