Decolonized Food Program

Sharing food has always been about more than eating—it is about relationship.‍ ‍

Our food programs provide practical support while creating opportunities to gather, learn, share, and strengthen community.

Food, Community and Connection.

Weekly Food Pantry

Our Weekly Food Pantry provides Indigenous families experiencing food insecurity with access to healthy, fresh food in a welcoming space grounded in dignity and respect.

Open every Wednesday from 3:00–6:00 pm, the pantry is designed to reduce barriers and provide support without stigma or shame.

Rise Up is proud to purchase local food and meats whenever possible, supporting both the wellness of families and our wider community. More than a place to access food, the pantry is a place to connect, build relationships, and support one another.

Food Preservation Workshops

Rise Up offers hands-on Food Preservation Workshops where community members can learn and share practical skills such as canning, meat preservation, freeze-drying, and pressure cooking.

These gatherings create opportunities to learn from one another, pass knowledge and skills forward, and deepen our relationship with the food that nourishes us.

Community Feasts

Rise Up hosts and supports Community Feasts where people can gather around a shared meal, build relationships, laugh, learn, and care for one another.

Our feasts respond to the needs of community—from gatherings with youth, Elders, families, and the Shuswap Youth Services Collaborative, to providing food and connection for those displaced by forest fires. We believe sharing food is about more than meeting a physical need—it is an opportunity to strengthen belonging, reciprocity, and community.
